What a great easy care basket. Here two hanging baskets have been joined
together to form a hanging globe. The hen and chicks will cover this
globe making a ball of succulents.
This baskets is primarily planted with hen and chicks which like hot
and sunny spots. As they are succulents they can withstand drought
conditions also.
When planting a hanging basket or making a hanging globe like the one
above remember that succulents often have little root systems and are
top heavy – their large leaves storing their nutrients. Taking this into
account they will need time once planted to get them selves established.
Plant your basket then let it sit for a few weeks – watering one or
twice a week before hanging – longer if you are doing a globe.
If you are so excited you can’t wait that long consider using florist
wire to help support your succulents till there roots are established.
Another
great consideration for hen and chicks is to plant them into a living
wreath as seen in this photo here.
